Circular Economy Impact

Ittinsect was born to contribute to the three UN sustainable development goals.

Circular Production Process

Zero waste is the team policy. Almost all the material we receive turns into aquafeed. The small percentage of materials we do not use, are upcycled and become useful for other industries.

Preservation of the Marine Environment

Our feeds contain exclusively by-products from the agri-food industry, or derived products of the same (e.g. insects raised on by-products). We move the food chain of the aquaculture sector exclusively on land and coastal area, preserving the high seas from human action.

Reduction of Aquaculture emissions

Oceans are the biggest ecosystem on our planet and they contribute by 60% to the total oxygen production. Ittinsect can have a global impact on the reduction of CO2Eq emissions by 13 million Tons

Reducing overfishing: our sustainable mission

It is proved that if we keep fishing at this pace the oceans will be empty by 2048. At that time we will not even have reached our team's retirement age. If the oceans ecosystem is broken, ocean will not yield oxygen anymore. Sorry amazon forest but today the oceans produce 50-85% of the total Earth oxygen. Basically we will all die soon after 2048 if we don't stop overfishing. In fish farming today, we need 4kg of sardines to produce 1kg of farmed fish for human consumption. This means we remove from the sea 6 times the amount a of fish a human needs in his diet.

By partnering with Ittinsect, you will contribute to keeping 200 billion sardines and anchovies (that is 20 million tons of fish) swimming in the ocean every year. We appreciate your support and we seek leverage in reducing overfishing by social awareness and governmental guidance against fish meal production. Thank you.
